On both sides of the Pacific, Central Asians and Native American tribesman became famous in past centuries for their skills of performing archery while on horseback. Used primarily as methods for hunting and battle, mounted archery was a natural progression of mounted combat once horses had been trained for human companionship on various continents. There has been a renewed interest in mounted archery with bow hunting equipment and not only has the sport increased in popularity for private hunters, but many national and international competitions have come about in countries like England, Germany, Canada, Brazil, and the United States.
